How to Become a TNCC instructor

The course director of a TNCC course that you have taken must recommend you as a potential instructor. You must meet the following criteria to be recommended:

  1. A score of at least 90% on a multiple-choice exam.
  2. A score of at least 90% of total points in all skill stations.
  3. Recommendation of your provider class course director and instructors
  4. TNCC 8th edition Providers who were not marked as Instructor Potential (IP) must complete the TNCC 9th edition Provider course before they can take the TNCC 9th edition Instructor course.
  5. TNCC 8th edition Providers who were marked as IP must observe a 9th edition Provider course before they can register for the 9th edition Instructor course. Once the IP has observed the course, the Course Director in charge of the course must fill out an audit form an email it back to the ENA so they can award the IP with TNCC 9th edition Provider status. That will allow them to attend the ENPC 6th edition Instructor course. Keep in mind you will still need to pass both the Instructor Course Pre-Test Exam and the Skill Station Pre-Test with a 90% or higher in order to take the Instructor course.

Written exam score must be within 90-days of TNCC Provider Course. If more than 90-days from your last TNCC course, you must complete and pass the written exam with a score of 90% or higher before TNCC instructor course date. Please email info@ResusMed.com to schedule a written exam.

If your written or skills testing are below the 90% cutoff point, you are potentially able to be retested to improve score(s).

Mandatory Pre-Course Requirements

(All must be completed prior to class or you may need to reschedule):

  • Pre-Course Online Modules: Instructions to the 10 Pre-Course Online Modules given after registration.
  • Review MicroTeach PowerPoints and be prepared to teach any of the four (access to ppts will be provided after registration).
  • Be prepared to re-test on the TNCC 9th edition multiple choice exam and TNP.

Within one year of completion of the instructor course, the TNCC (I) candidate must participate as an instructor in a TNCC (Provider) class.
